What clients are saying

★☆☆☆☆
Zero customer service quotient and terrible understanding of TRICARE and how it plays into meeting insurance requirements while attending university. No option to leave remarks when submitting waiver request and hold times over 90 mins (I gave up and hung up at that point).

Avoid purchasing insurance from them at all costs! Their customer service is useless. They never answer questions directly and always copy and paste information that is already on the school’s website.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the mishandling of my health insurance coverage under UCLA’s student health insurance. Due to an error on the part of Academic Health Plans, my coverage was incorrectly terminated six months early. As a result, we have received multiple denied claims from Anthem Blue Cross for services that should have been covered. Despite paying over $20,000 in health insurance premiums to Academic Health Plans for the year, we were left with denied claims. Since then, I have personally called Academic Health Plans more than a dozen times and left multiple messages for supervisors, yet I have not received any response or resolution. For the past two weeks, I have repeatedly been told, “A supervisor will call you,” but no one has ever followed up. As a physician myself, I strongly advise future students to decline Academic Health Plans and instead obtain insurance directly through providers or Covered California. Academic Health Plans collects high premiums yet delivers poor communication, repeated claim denials, and no meaningful support or timely resolution.
