The Insurance Agent Who Changed My Mind
I hate insurance guys. They're unresponsive and go above and beyond just to avoid paying out claims. That's what I've always believed, until I crossed paths with Shalair at Baker Insurance.
When we moved from Florida to New York last summer, we faced annoying issues and damages due to our disappointing experience with the moving company. As I started listing everything, I had little hope we would ever see any settlement money. But that's where Shalair delivered: outstanding customer service, super smooth coordination in getting an expert on site, and most importantly, an extremely fair settlement outcome.
Did I get everything I wanted? No. But I genuinely felt she was on my side, had a fair understanding of the contract, and handled the damage claim reasonably. Honestly, I hope I never have to deal with her again - and that's only because I hope future movers will be better. But if I ever have to file an insurance claim again, god please let it be with Shalair.

Very happy to point to their teams and conditions. I did a move and the moving company suggested Baker as my insurance as the standard insurance provided across the industry was not sufficient. The moving company lost some of my boxes, so i contacted them to file a claim and was told that I needed to take that up with a company called CSI. CSI took 120 days to do their review and while I was speaking with that agent I was told that I should have started with Baker. So I reached out to Baker, and while the girl was certainly nice enough, even through I had gone to the wrong place to start and had all my documents showing that I had not been lax in attempting to settle this, they were happy to point to their terms that if I didn’t contact them within 90 days I was SOL and there is no recourse for an exception given that I was told to go to the wrong place to start. I’ve never done a move like this so all this was new to me. I won’t be using Baker if I ever move again purely on the principle that they were unwilling to review my case as an exception under the premise that I have been actively working on this since my items were delivered.

We, like so many people, used a “reputable” national moving company for our cross country move. Things did not go well with damage to almost 100% of our large furniture items and total lost to our 3 year old 75” TV that we paid $200 extra to have packaged to protect it. I’m so thankful we had contracted with Baker for added insurance. We worked with Shalair and she was simply amazing. Professional, fast, efficient, and honest. She quickly got a local estimator out, and got us a fair settlement within a few days. She was thorough in her paperwork and communicated throughout the process, especially if anything was delayed or in question. This insurance is mostly for catastrophic loss, but proved worthwhile.
