I want to warn anyone considering Covered By Cori Equine & Cattle Insurance about the billing and customer service issues we went through. On May 20th we were discussing plan options with one of their agents — we gave them our card assuming we'd be choosing a quarterly, monthly, or semi-annual plan. Instead, they accidentally charged us the full annual amount: $3,500, well outside our budget and something we had to carry on a credit card.
To their credit, when we caught the error they apologized right away and said a refund check was on its way. That's where things fell apart. We left for a week-long vacation, came home, and no check had arrived. We reached out again — nothing. Reached out again — still nothing. Eventually got Sharon on the phone, who apologized and promised she'd "get to the bottom of it" and send a check soon. Another week passed. No check.
We kept texting and calling with little to no response until the owner, Corey, finally got involved — telling us they'd use our situation as a training example for their agents, then turning around and offering to charge us $800 for a plan we never agreed to, on top of walking back the full refund we'd already been promised. Around day 30, we called both Sharon and Corey directly, frustrated that we still had nothing and were accruing credit card interest the entire time. Same response both times: "so sorry, it's a billing department issue," with another promise that a check was coming.
Then on June 18th — nearly a month after the original charge — they finally said the refund would go out, but split into three separate payments (one described as "for processing" and two split in a way that made no sense to us). The first check to arrive was for only $120, which honestly shocked us given we were owed $3,500. We didn't get the next check until day 45, and the final one didn't arrive until day 48 — nearly two months after they took our money by mistake.
We did eventually get the full refund, but it took almost two months of chasing, broken promises, and repeated escalation on our end, and the credit card interest we accrued during that time was never reimbursed. They kept telling us we were a "priority," but it never felt that way — we felt like the bottom of the list, and getting our own money back felt like an inconvenience to them. Staff even got visibly frustrated with us on the phone for being upset, but after 40+ days of no refund, that anger was more than justified.
Buyer beware — mistakes happen, but how a business handles making it right matters, and this was handled poorly from start to finish.

Michaela made my multiple horse purchase, that was 1,600 miles away from me, a piece of cake. I felt secure in my purchase from the moment the hammer dropped, all the way home because she handled it promptly and everything was straightforward. Couldn’t recommend her enough!

I recently had the pleasant experience of purchasing an insurance plan through Michaela Suter. She made the process really simple and straightforward, and explained all of my options very well. This is my first time purchasing horse insurance, and I really appreciated her taking the time to explain the industry to me. This agency has been recommended to me by multiple people that I know and trust, and with my great experience with my agent Michaela, I feel very confident with my decision.
