The Hartford

I completely understand the low rating for Hartford now. They have the WORST customer service!!! Sent three emails to three different email addresses and nobody ever responded. Called them and the woman that tranfers the calls was rude as hell. The woman that took the call seemed annoyed. I was asking for a very simple request. Took her 20 mins to work on it. Our call got dropped and she never even bothered calling me back to finalize it!!! Not renewing with this company. Can only imagine what it would be like to have to file a claim with them.

Our 3 month old parked truck was hit in the grocery store parking lot by someone insured by The Hartford. I had to mediate discussions between the body shop and insurance to get parts covered. The Hartford was quick to place fault on the body shop, but they rarely returned call or emails. The accident happened on 1/31/26. Today is 3/5/26. The repairs to the truck are complete but we cannot pick up the truck because The Hartford has not paid the body shop any money. However, since the repairs are complete, they discontinued covering the rental car. I now have to pay for transportation so I can go to work. I was a victim the day the lady hit my truck and The Hartford continues to make me a victim. While the say they work within the law, their business practices are very unethical.

Worst insurance company ever and that’s saying a lot. As others have said, if I could give less than one star I would. They don’t return phone calls or emails for a week at minimum. Then you find out your claim adjuster was fired. Then they refuse to pay the claim because you didn’t follow the proper steps even though you tried but nobody would return your call. On top of all of this, they charge you a fortune and continue to go up on their rates at a large percentage for no reason. Contacted another large legitimate provider and got my rates for 40% of what The Hartford was charging. And when you are talking about a $60k insurance bill, well I’ll let you do the math on how much money you can save going with a provider that doesn’t rip off their customers and provide the worst customer service ever.
