I purchased a policy with Hotchkiss after a phone conversation with someone explaining that I will pay for a year of coverage, and that we would amend the policy as my project progresses through the stages. She mentioned that I would be refunded for whatever is not used if we finished the project sooner than a year, so I was shocked when they asked me to start an entirely new policy with an additional premium after just a few months. I would not have selected this policy if I had realized how expensive it actually is. We had several other quotes for much less, but I went with this because it seemed like the best price based on the salespersons description. I feel like I've been scammed. If she has just been upfront about the fact that we'd have to pay additional premium after our renovations were completed, I never would've selected this policy. I will not use or recommend Hotchkiss ever again.

My company has been a customer of Hotchkiss for 15+ years and I can say I am glad to be moving away from this agency. Do not expect your Hotchkiss agent or claims advocate to fight for you. Hotchkiss is only about collecting your premium and letting you fight against the claims adjuster yourself. I was told nothing gets approved anymore and to just hire an attorney if I didn't like it. I've left over 15 messages for Kathy H. to call me back and she continues to avoid taking my calls and does not return any calls.
