The broker here is an independent agent that represents numerous insurance companies.
He will review your current policy and tell you places that can beat your policy price with the same coverage.
If you still find the price unaffordable, he can make recommendations on where you might cut some expenses.
He said that insurance prices rise periodically and it's good to shop and compare every few years.
For my auto insurance policy, I was paying around $1,100 a year, or $550 every 6 months, about 10 years ago. About 5 years ago, the same coverage had risen to about $800 every 6 months, or $1,600 yearly. About 3 years ago, I was paying about $900 every 6 months, $1,800 yearly. Now, my upcoming renewal is $1,100 every 6 months, $2,200 annually, plus an installment monthly fee.
My current provider even had the gall to say changes made to my policy could affect pricing.. I called to speak with a representative, and she basically said insurance rates have been increasing. I asked her what changes were made to my policyand she couldn't find any. Then, she quickly diverted by saying her rates increased as well.
It's pretty fishy to me. She represents the major insurance company and can't tell me what changes have been made to my policy.
Insurance One found me a comparable policy that will save me $360 over 6 months, or $60 per month.
