As a small business owner in the San Antonio area that's required to have insurance, my recommendation...USE SOMEONE ELSE! I used Whitaker for insurance for over two years or so, automatic payments (never late), never made any claims, and always disappointed each time I actually had a need to speak to someone! They have numerous employees, but you're only allowed to talk to the one that's "never available". My policy came up for renewal, and typically...an increase in "fees" and "rates" doubled my down payment, so while I was shopping around elsewhere, the policy did not renew. Due to business deadlines, I figured I would just pay the higher rates so I can get back to work...then came the run around. They basically made it sound like such a hardship that they had to "re-quote" my policy and submit it. Then I never heard from them again. After 3 weeks of waiting, and several messages that were never returned, I finally spoke with someone who actually gave me the "...well...gee...um...yeah..." before telling me they "do not" rewrite policies that are "Canceled" for "non-payment". When I explained my policy was not canceled for non-payment, she simply stated "well, we're not going to rewrite it", and then so politely told me to go somewhere else. UNBELIEVABLE! They told me to go elsewhere...and I'm telling you...go elsewhere!
